After 33 years in the Costa Rican market, CoopeCoronado maintains a successful combination of the essence of its beginnings with shades of modernity; thanks to a good extent, to its quality and environmental certifications.
The first ISO-9001 quality standard was obtained in 2003; and the second ISO-14001 environment standard was obtained in 2004. The last external audit was performed in August 2005, and it assessed the integrated quality and environment systems, with outstanding results. On that occasion, the auditors agreed that the systems have matured, and the requirements for each were now part of the CoopeCoronado culture.
Fruits of the commitment
Thanks to sustained systematization and communication efforts with its people, in April 2003 we obtained the ISO 9001 – 2000 certification with the objective of ensuring consumers and customers the quality of the processes performed in the food lines.
Our ISO 9001 certification came after a process that took nearly three years, where the entire personnel participated in the development and establishment of ideal procedures in order to maintain operational efficiency.
By the end of 2004, this company, owner of the Coronado brand of dairy products and drinks, obtained the ISO-14001 environmental standard certification, thus becoming the first national dairy company to receive this certification.
With this, the benefits of Coronado are widely extended to the retailing clients, but especially to the local community, since it is with them that the company shows its commitment to comply with current environmental legislation issues—such as noise levels, foul odors, chemical water management, gas emissions—as well as damaged products management, recycling of packaging materials, energy and fuel consumption reduction, among others.
The next external audit will be carried out in June, when the auditors will evaluate the company for the purpose of recertification.
