With a very different scenario from other celebrations, CoopeCoronado celebrated the World Milk Day this June 1st at the local Coronado Park. Coronado has an estimated population of 60000.
Many local news media participated in this celebration.
One of the major TV channels did a live broadcast from the park, which showed how people interacted with the different event activities, people drinking milk and enjoying all the scheduled cultural activities.
Major newspapers were also present, as well as specialized magazines and a few radio stations, which reported the importance of this precious drink.
Coronado distributed over 7200 half-liter milk containers on each of the five different corners of the park.
The main activity involved the donation of powdered and liquid milk to over 100 low-income families that were selected in collaboration with the local Coronado Catholic Church. This donation was possible due the financial help of CoopeCoronado staff members, and was matched by the Company itself.
Since one of CoopeCoronado’s goals was to promote milk consumption, it organized a small nutritional conference about the importance that milk has on health and how it helps us to be in shape. This conference was held at the church’s parochial hall and was attended by many of the local residents.
Then everyone gathered around the park to enjoy the sounds of a local tropical band, followed by a soccer trick exhibition by the talented Central American Soccer Trick Champion “Kika”, right before heading of the World Soccer Cup. And the event finally closed with a cheerleading exhibition performed by the local high school.
