Good grades with milk
Children that include this food in their breakfasts and snacks can perform better during the school day.

If your kid’s grades are not as good as they should be, perhaps they’re getting distracted in class.  Don’t punish them, change your strategy:  ask them to drink milk and other dairy products during breakfast.

The most recent research results show that this meal helps improve students’ memory, since the vitamins from Group B present in milk stimulate learning, improve concentration and allow a greater cognitive and motor development.

“A child that has taken a nutritive breakfast including milk, yogurt or cheese, have more possibilities to remain active and concentrated at school.  The consumption of milk and its derivates helps them be more alert, less tired and more willing to learn”, stated Erika Campos, Nutrition Advisor of Coronado.

Considered by the World Health Organization as the most complete natural meal, milk provides almost all the groups of nutrients:  proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals.  In addition, it’s great for children, since, due to its high contents of vitamins B and nutrients like iron, it strengthens the bones as well as with its high folic acid and mineral content, among which, calcium is the most important.

Children require a lot of liquid, vitamins and minerals during a school day, in order to correctly perform all the activities they have to develop; it is for this reason that it is important to create the habit for them to drink milk at breakfast.

“A child that has taken a nutritional breakfast including milk, yogurt or cheese has more possibilities of remaining active and alert at school.  Many times, soft drinks, packaged products and candy are the only sources of energy for kids in a school day and at the long term; this consumption can cause nutritional deficiencies which lead to considerable difficulties in concentration, especially during the last hours of the school day”, stated Campos.

A kid that drinks two glasses of milk per day is getting close to half of the daily suggested protein intake, and over 80% of the calcium and vitamin B required.

Making school children enjoy milk is very easy thanks to Coronado, which offers products like long lasting whole milk, powdered whole milk, semi-skimmed milk, flavored milk or liquid yogurt, great for that school snack. For great tasting sandwiches, just add a slice of our delicious Coronado Turrialba cheese or spread some tasty Coronado American cream cheese.
