There is no special formula that salesmen and health gurus haven’t tried to sell products and ensure the public ways of losing weight. Yet, without going too far, one healthy and scientifically proven formula is the consumption of milk and the products derived from it.
The study, made by the University of Tennessee in the US, discovered that calcium—a fundamental compound of milk—helps lose weight; at the same time, many publications have been announcing that diets rich in milk derivates will be as popular as low fat and low carbohydrate diets.
The researcher in charge of the study, Professor Dr. Michael Zemel, Chief of the Nutrition Department of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, indicated that calcium aids the way our body absorbs fats. This theory confirms that the lack of calcium produces a specific gene that causes the storage of fat in the body.
“In Coronado, we offer a wide variety of dairy products to be enjoyed. Some help in staying healthy and in shape; and due to their low fat content and their calcium content can be part of a healthy daily diet for overweight people, such as skim milk (0.1% of fat). The tests indicated that obese people consuming three to four milk servings or dairy product per day, as part of a low calorie diet lost more weight and fat than those that did not consume adequate levels of calcium or those that consumed calcium through supplements.
For this reason, do not forget to include milk or any of its by-products in your daily diet—skim or not—the contribution of calcium is and will continue being a ally of good nutrition and, now, also of a balanced diet.
